The Gisborne Vintage Machinery Society are proud to have our own "HO" scale model Train layout as part of our Club's offerings. This is Gisborne's own model train club.

The 14.5mx 6m. layout was the result of 25 years of work by Charles Cord, a very talented and gifted modeller who wished to see it preserved and enjoyed by future generations so he generusly donated to the Gisborne Vintage Machinery Society.

Based on the towns of Murray Bridge and Tailem Bend, it includes the bridge over the Murray, tunnels under hills and extensive landscaping. Our members have been enjoying adding to it and bringing their own locomotives and railway stock to run on it. We welcome anyone who would like to join our Club and play trains. There is scope to help with the set up and further landscaping, and you can BYO trains or run the available trains.

The general public are fascinated when we have the Model Railway open to the public in tandem with the Miniature Railway Run days every first Sunday of the month. In addition, members frequently come to the Steam Park at other times on a casual basis to work on the Model Railway and visitors are welcome to join us.
